Top 10 Inspiring Books For Entrepreneurs

Only few business owners and entrepreneurs can actually boast about reading at least 12 business books in the past 10 months. Many are not ready to invest in knowledge and financial literacy for their business, yet they want to gain mastery and be called an expert. How possible can that be? Truth is, if you don't read, you will not learn new things and if you don't learn new things, you will be redundant in life.

The impact of books cannot be overemphasized. Books takes us on a journey and to places we have never been before, it gives us access to the minds of great individuals and enlarges our capacity to think big and become better at what we do.

How to Read Books When You Don't Feel Like Reading

I was reading a good book one day and a great light flashed on me, my brain opened up and uncommon ideas began to flow. It made me remember Daniel in the Bible, "And I Daniel understood by books".

I have always had this deep desire for access to light and revelation in life. I never imagined they will come through books. I just enjoyed reading inspiring and self-help books. One special day, I had the most significant encounter of my life while reading a book. It was beautiful and meaningful. I began to think about the general impact of books and it's significance to gaining mastery in various fields of endeavors, especially towards growth and personal development.

15 Books I Read That Changed Me

I enjoy reading a lot, especially inspirational and personal development books. And someday, I do hope to have a book or reading club for kids and a bigger library in my home filled with impactful books. I remember my first reading adventure with other kids in my neighborhood, I was only 6 years old but I already had tons of story books that made it quite easy for me to form and develop the habit of reading. It's quite fun!

My sincere apologies for not doing a book review last month, I had a lot of things going on and I wanted to make sure I properly understood the book I was going to review (thanks for understanding😊). Book Review || Failing Forward by John C. Maxwell

My first encounter with this book was in October last year when one of my boss at work recommended it for me because of the many questions that clouded my mind as at then; I wasn't feeling perfect enough for my current position at the office even though I knew I was qualified for it, I was also working on several projects totally different from what I studied in school and I really needed to be assured I was on the right path even though I knew within me I was. See, this feelings thing ain't no good at all because if you live your life based on how you feel, you will never get anything done in life.

Well, I later got to study the book and I was wowed by the depth of it's pages, it inspired me so much that I even had to turn it into a daily devotional for personal purposes. Inside the book, I learned what they never taught me in school and I also saw practical ways of turning my mistakes into stepping stones.

Book Review || The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People By Stephen Covey

Today's review is on the book titled 'The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People' by Stephen R. Covey. I guess a lot of people must have read it because it's one of the most famous and popular book on personal development that I have ever come across. The book has sold more than 15 million copies since it's first publication in 1989, it focuses on building and developing good habits, it is filled with practical wisdom and principles for anyone seeking to change his or her life. I recommend it for those in the business world, corporate job, and life generally.

Habit 1: Be Proactive
In his words 'Being proactive means that as human beings, we are responsible for our own lives'. You have the ability to control your moods, feelings, and thoughts. He says, our behavior is a function of our decisions not our conditions and that we should all focus more on things we can control rather than on what we cannot because we have the initiative and responsibility to make things happen. Proactive people are values driven, they don't allow their environment to affect them. Whether it rains or shines, it makes no difference to them. They know what they want and they go for it irrespective of how it seems to be, they are in control of their emotions, thoughts, actions, decisions, and they don't worry when things don't go as expected.

Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind
To begin with the end in mind means to start with the clear understanding of where you are going I.e your destination. You can do that by creating a image or picture of what the end of your goal or task will look like. This has been like a source of motivation for me because picturing the end from the beginning helps me stay really focused and effective on what I do. For example, how about visualizing your 50th birthday celebration, involving all that you have achieved and accomplished so far? How do you want it to look like? Create a mental picture of the future you want to see.

Habit 3: Put First Things First
This is the habit of time and life management. All things you do in life are either regarded as urgent and important or not urgent and not important. Therefore you should do things on a regular basis that will make a tremendous positive impact on your life. You should not spend time doing unimportant tasks but rather set priorities to become more successful or productive in life.

Habit 4: Think Win-Win
Win-Win is a frame of mind and heart that seeks mutual benefit in all human interactions. It's not selfish and it's not just about following principles but about a better and a higher way of doing things. It involves mutual learning, mutual influence, mutual benefits. Stephen Covey said it's a fundamental way to success in all of our interactions. He also said, other people should not be taken as competitors but as cooperatives, and that one person success should not be achieved at the expense of the success of other people.

Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood
This habit shows us a better way to communicate with people around us. Stephen Covey says, communication is the most important skill in life and that if you so desire to influence or effectively interact with people, you need to first listen and understand what the other person is saying. It reminds us on how important it is to improve our listening skills. For example, a good lawyer needs to first gather all the facts to understand the situation.

Habit 6: Synergize
Synergy means the whole is greater than the sum of its parts and to synergize means bringing together the whole rather than some of its part. Here its all about making improvements and bringing in something productive with the cooperation of others. And to be fully effective we must value the physical differences between people to create opportunities for each other.

Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw
This habit encourages everyone to take some time off to sharpen themselves and improve on their skills. The greatest asset you have is you and the best investment you can ever make is on you. If you don't take good proper care of yourself, your personal productivity will decrease. The author says you can sharpen your saw physically by exercising, or spiritually by meditating, or through mental development (reading books, attending seminars, lectures, workshops), and also in a social or emotional way.

Book Review || The Seven Spiritual Laws Of Success By Deepak Chopra

I stumbled across Deepak Chopra's eBook 'The seven spiritual laws of success' through the help of a friend (Hello friend...thank you) during the week and I deeply love and appreciate the powerful words of wisdom in it, if you haven't read it please do so. Been thinking of doing book reviews on the blog for a long time now but I have been a bit skeptical about it because it's a lot of hard work and if not carefully done, one could get into trouble.

But I think it's a great idea all the same, because I may have a library of great books that someone doesn't have and may want to pick up lessons from. And people can get the opportunity to have insights on what a particular book is about. You guys also get to contribute, share your thoughts and ideas on what book I could review next, give the book either a thumb up or a thumb down, recommend it for someone or get useful information from it. So yes, I will be doing book reviews once every month on this blog.

This book is basically about the spiritual approaches to achieve success and affluence in life, his teachings are so powerful and like he said, this is a book you will truly cherish for a life time.

1. The law of pure potentiality: If you have the desire, you have the ability to manifest that desire. The source of all creation is pure potentiality seeking expression from the unmanifest to the manifest. And when we realize that our true self is one of potentiality, we align with the power that manifests everything in the universe. Everything is possible!

2. The law of giving: If you want joy, give joy to others, if you want love, learn to give love, give what you want to see. Givers truly never lack!

3. The law of "KARMA" or cause and effect : Whatever you sow, you will reap. Your choices of today can affect your tomorrow, so plant good seeds now.

4. The law of least effort: Grass doesn't try to grow, it just grows. Fishes doesn't try to swim, they just swim. Practice acceptance, responsibility, and defenselessness. Be everything you want to be.

5. The law of intention and desire: That one pointed intention, that quality of attention that is unbending in its fixity of purpose.

6. The law of detachment: In order to acquire anything, you have to relinquish your attachment to it.

7. The law of "DHARMA" or purpose in life: Everyone has a purpose in life, a unique gift or special talent to give to others. You are here for a reason!

Who else has read the book and would love to make contributions? please feel free to share your comments with me below. And don't forget to drop ideas on what next book I should review on the blog, thank you.

Have a blessed day:)
